Won a Trademark Infringement Lawsuit in China

November 12, 2020, We, GS Yuasa Corporation and our Chinese subsidiary Tianjin GS Battery Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Tianjin City, People's Republic of China) took legal actions at Dongcheng People's District Court in Beijing on China for trademark infringement of "GS" (Chinese trademark registration no. 507630, etc.) The actions have been brought with respect to the production and sales of storage batteries of the "GGS" brand by JINAN Jieshitong trading Co., Ltd. and Beijing Yongli Win-Win Decoration Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the defendants) for compensation for economic losses incurred.

In this regard, on June 22, 2021, the above-mentioned People's Court judged the infringement of trademark right and the act of unfair competition by JINAN Jieshitong trading Co., Ltd.

In addition, the court ordered JINAN Jieshitong trading Co., Ltd. to suspend production and sales of products of the GGS brand and to pay a total of RMB 400,000 (approximately JPY 6.8 million, Exchange Rate: JPY:RMB=17:1) for damages.

The GS brand is an important intellectual property that we use in Japan and overseas. We will take a resolute attitude toward the infringements, protect the value of our brands, and strive to ensure that customers can purchase our products with peace of mind.
