GS Yuasa Launches DC48V Lithium-ion Battery Module
LIM50EN-13/LIM50EN-14 ideal for Radio Base Stations
GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674; “GS Yuasa”) announced that it launched DC48V lithium-ion battery module LIM50EN-13/LIM50EN-14, ideal for backup of communication equipment such as those in radio base stations.
Compared with lead-acid storage batteries for the same purpose, the LIM50EN-13/LIM50EN-14 can reduce the size and weight of storage battery cabinets and are expected to decrease the workload during installation and maintenance. At the same time, the products also offers the option of building a remote monitoring system, which would contribute to reduction in management costs. The products can also be used as replacement storage batteries for an existing system using lead-acid storage batteries.
GS Yuasa will continue to offer various solutions including electricity supply backup during times of disaster through sale of power storage system using lithium-ion batteries and deliver comfort and security to our customers.
1. Replacement of existing DC48V lead-acid storage battery system
Using lithium-ion batteries originally requires a separate monitoring protective device, but LIM50EN-13/LIM50EN-14 come with an internal monitoring protective device and they can be used to replace just the lead-acid storage batteries from the storage battery component without changing the configuration of the existing power supply.
2. Boosting backup capacity by parallel connection
A maximum of 32 units can be connected in parallel to build systems with a wide range of capacity from 47.5Ah to 1520Ah.
3. Remote monitoring
An optional communication unit can be set up to build a remote monitoring system, which would reduce management costs by centralizing the system management.
4. Compatible with 19-inch shelves
The units are designed for EIA-standard 19-inch shelves, making it convenient for installation and replacement works.
5. Compatible with N 1 redundant system*1
The products enable construction of N 1 redundant system, which improves reliability of the system.
*1 A mechanism to avoid system stoppage caused by damages to units by having one unit more than the number of units required for the operation.
